Pictured below is the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s locomotive no.186 stopping over briefly at Magheramorne Station on 3 June en route to Larne. The excursion special, on hire to Larne Borough Council, was taking passengers from Carrickfergus to the Larne Alive Summer Festival.

Development of the proposed railway visitor centre at Magheramorne and the operation of a heritage railway within the site is likely to be linked to more frequent steam specials on the line.
